Following the Project Roadmap, here is a first (incomplete) cut at breaking this huge amount of work down into deliverables, and then specific tasks within each deliverable, and then attaching people to tasks.

First priority obviously deliverable #1... volunteers? anything missing?

Deliverable #1 - Base Griffin.kit

Goal: creation of basic infrastructure that can be used to both provide new/improved functionality widgets to applications (via sourceing the starkit and then doing 'package require griffin') as well as bundle demos for testing and feedback purposes; this would be loadable into a vanilla 8.4.x system

Features/Demos:

• option settings we've already assembled
• bundle Tk widget demo
• bundle another simple demo

Tasks:

• setup basic griffin.kit infrastructure (Mark)
• create basic 'griffin' package framework (Mark)
• add in option settings we've assembled (Mark)
• bundle in Tk widget demo (Mark)
• create/bundle in another demo (Mark)
• create simple demo launcher (main app in starkit) (Mark)
• integration, test, release (Mark)

Deliverable #2 - First scriptable widgets

Goal: addition of purely scriptable widgets to griffin.kit, again to be loaded into vanilla 8.4.x; also want to identify items to be moved into core 8.5 during this timeframe

Features/Demos:

• combobox widget
• toolbar widget
• statusbar widget
• megawidget framework

Deliverable #3,4,5.... - Everything else (placeholder)

• table widget in C
• tree widget in C
• tab notebook in C
• properties dialog in Tcl
• named colors
• icons
• keyboard handling
• ...

Deliverable #N - Feed Results Back to Tk Core
Mark: Actually, I think this will be an ongoing thing... I hope as different pieces stabilize we can move them into the core then, rather than waiting for a single monster integration. I'd expect particularly around the timeframes for various 8.5 and 9.0 alpha/beta milestones this to be happening a lot! See also Merging Changes into Tk.

Will Duquette: With regard to the megawidget framework, I'll endeavour to add option database support to Snit...provided that some folks who actually use the option database as a regular thing will look the changes over and give me feedback.

lvirden: Cameron Laird co-wrote a couple of articles on the options, and I seem to recall DKF doing some writing in that area as well.
