Who do we need to reach about a new and improved Tk? Who are the stakeholders? Who do we need to get to buy in to what we're doing?

Paul Kienzle: Some here are considering Java for client-side interfaces since it is "platform independent". Starkits (somebody else maintains them) plus starpacks (no infrastructure required) might be sufficient, but tclets might be more convincing. Are there precompiled recent tclets that I can point to? Or do I have to compile my own?

David S. Cargo: What about universities? The University of Minnesota used to have a class on designing user interfaces; the language that we used to Tcl/Tk. The stated reason for the requirement was that it was the only language that would allow meaningful implementation of a sizeable project within an academic quarter.
